RANKING GUIDELINES
This is not simply a ‘coolest character’ list.  Instead, this countdown looks at the impact the character has had not only in the teams they’ve served on, but also in the furtherment of their own characters and their contribution to the X-Men world as a whole.

To be considered for this list, the character must have served as an active member of at least one of the following teams:

• X-Men (including X-Treme)
• New Mutants (original or current)
• X-Factor (original or current)
• X-Force (original or current)
• Excalibur (original, Genoshan or New)
• Generation X
• New X-Men (any student squad or Young X-Men)
• Muir Island X-Men
