Podicus Wrecks #5 – Tone in comic book stuff

In this shorter episode, I give my brief first impressions on the game Life is Strange and the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. I then go into a short general discussion about tone in comic books and superhero movies.

  1. I think the thing that’s more important than the tone of the story is whether or not the story is good. Does it make sense? Do the characters have logical, consistent motivations? Does it catch your interest and make you want to see what happens next? If the answer to those questions is yes, then you can craft a successful story that’s either dark & gritty or lighthearted & fun. It’s not that one tone is inherently good while the other is inherently bad.
